At $19/month(billed annually) for our Solo plan, $49/month per user (billed annually) for our Team plan and $69/month per user (billed annually) for our scale plan, Financial Cents is a more reasonably priced option than Karbon which starts at $59/month per user.
“Overall, I can’t praise it [Financial Cents] enough. And I’m very picky about software. I’ve tried about 5 different client management software and this one is the best. It is pricier than others. However, if you take into account the 25 hours a month it saves me. Overall, it’s saving me money. IMO .. the features don’t compare with other CRMs for accountants.”

Karbon has limited client management and client portal branding features.
“Streamlining Bookkeeping to leave room for more Advisory
I don’t have to chase clients nearly as much with their to-do lists and client portals set up. They can ask questions, and I can add accountability tasks for clients for them to be reminded automatically, and everything is pretty customizable – including the reminder emails.”

Financial Cents vs Karbon FAQs
Financial Cents is designed with a user-first approach, making setup and daily use easy. Financial Cents has an ease of use rating of 4.9/5.0 on Capterra. Many firms achieve full adoption within days. Karbon, while powerful, can feel “clunky” and harder to adopt according to user reviews.
Financial Cents starts at $19/month (solo plan) and $49/month per user (team plan, billed annually), while Karbon starts at $59/month per user. Financial Cents provides more features included at each tier, offering greater value for money.
Both platforms offer workflow management and automation. Financial Cents enhances this with the ability for you to create unlimited workflow templates across all plans, a community template library, and AI-powered template creation. Karbon lets you use templates but there are limits to the number of workflow templates you can utilize depending on your plan, and lacks community and AI-driven options.
Karbon places limits on client management depending on the plan. On the Team plan, you’re limited to 1,000 clients and 10 client contact types. The Business plan increases this to 2,000 clients and 25 contact types, while only the Enterprise plan offers unlimited clients and contact types.
With Financial Cents, you get unlimited clients across all plans. For client groups (similar to Karbon’s client contact types), the Solo plan allows 5 groups, while the team, scale and enterprise plans include unlimited groups. This makes Financial Cents a more scalable option for growing firms without worrying about hitting client or group limits.
Yes, Financial Cents allows you to track and manage uncategorized transactions directly within your workflow with ReCats. Karbon does not currently support this feature.
Financial Cents provides built-in proposals and engagement letters so you can onboard new clients quickly and streamline scope agreements. Karbon does not offer proposals and engagement letters as a native feature, you’ll have to pay for a separate tool to streamline onboarding.
Financial Cents includes a customizable, firm-branded client portal with your logo, brand colors, and a custom URL at no extra cost. Karbon’s client portal is more limited and does not include full branding options.
Firms switch from Karbon to Financial Cents because of its ease of use, affordability, and faster team adoption. While Karbon can feel complex and harder to implement, Financial Cents is designed with ease of use in mind, helping firms hit deadlines, collaborate with clients, and automate workflows without a steep learning curve. At a lower price point, Financial Cents delivers more value while still offering advanced features like a branded client portal, workflow automation, and robust reporting.

Many of the other tools are poor at managing updates and bugs. Some use subcontracted developers, providing real client data samples. Others have suffered breaches without proper notifications.
Of the pre-built systems out there, I do think Financial Cents has a solid offering.
One of my top goals is to make the process easier for clients. Glad I made the switch!

If you’re not using this feature, I highly recommend it! Remembering to follow up with clients can be a serious bottleneck and I love how this solved that problem!
