Due Dates for Workflow Template Tasks (New Feature)
Due Dates for Workflow Template Tasks
We just released a new feature that will help you streamline your workflows even more by making it easy for your staff to know which tasks to complete first. Which will empower your staff to complete client work on their own, maintain quality, and allow you to focus on more important aspect of your business.
The new functionality helps prioritize tasks by allowing you to choose how many days each task should be due before the Project due date.
Previously when you created a Project with a Template all the tasks (in the project) would have the same due date as the project. For example, If the project was due on the 30th then all the tasks within the project would be due on the 30th. This made it hard for your staff to know when certain tasks needed to be completed by.
Now you can choose how many days each task should be due before the Project’s due date. So when you use the Template to create a Project it will calculate the due date for the tasks based on the Projects due date.
This is a little complicated to understand so I will walk you through it below.
When you first create a Workflow Template all the tasks will automatically have a due date of “0 days before.” This means that when you create a Project with the Template the tasks will be due on the same due date as the project. For Example, if you use this template to create a project with a due date of January 30th then the tasks will have a due date of January 30th.
If you were to change the task in the template to be due “5 days before.” Then if you used the template to create a project with a due date of January 30th, the “Send reports to clients” task will have a due date of January 25th. While the other tasks will be due on the 30th.
As you can see below – I created a “Bi-Weekly Payroll” Project with the Template that has a due date of January 30th and the “send reports to clients” task has a due date of January 25th (5 days before the 30th), while the other tasks have a due date of January 30th (0 days before the 30th).
**** When you create a Project with the Template is will automatically calculate the due dates of the tasks in the Project****
FYI, You can easily change the due date of the Template’s tasks by clicking on the task (in the template) and changing the number as seen below.
