Proposals and Engagement Letters FAQs

What is accounting proposal software?

Accounting proposal software lets accounting, bookkeeping, and tax firms create, send, and track client proposals and engagement letters online. Clients review your services, choose a package, and sign in one place, so you win work faster and can start billing as soon as they sign.

What can I include in a proposal?

Each proposal can include a personal intro message and video, the signatories and start date, and your services with scope, pricing, discounts, and tax. Services can be one-time, recurring, deposit, or hourly. You can also add your engagement letter and terms, and a payment step if you want clients to add their card or bank details.

Can I include engagement letters in my proposals?

Yes. You can upload your engagement letter or write your terms directly in the editor, using tokens like client and contact name to personalize them. Clients review and sign your terms as part of the proposal.

Can I offer different service packages and upsells?

Yes. You can offer up to 3 packages for clients to choose from, such as Bronze, Silver, and Gold. On the Scale plan, you can also add optional services clients can choose to include, which makes it easy to increase the value of each engagement.

Can I add a personalized video to my proposals?

Yes. You can add an intro video to explain your services and build rapport before the client signs, so your proposal stands out from a PDF in their inbox.

Can clients sign proposals electronically?

Yes. Clients can review, accept, and sign proposals from any device. You can send proposals and automatic reminders by email, SMS, or both, so clients who haven’t signed get a nudge without you following up.

Do clients have to enter payment details to accept a proposal?

It’s up to you. With an active Financial Cents billing account, you can request a card, an ACH bank account, or both, and choose whether payment details are required to accept. You can also send a proposal without a payment step and invoice the client later.

How does billing work after a proposal is signed?

When a client signs, Financial Cents generates their invoices on the billing schedule you chose. You decide whether those invoices are sent automatically or kept as drafts for you to review first. If the client added payment details, future payments can be collected automatically.

Do I need to use Financial Cents billing to send proposals?

No. You can send proposals and get them signed without an active billing account. You’ll need an active billing account to collect clients’ payment details in the proposal and to send the invoices it generates; without one, invoices are created as drafts.

Can I send proposals to multiple clients at once?

Yes. You can select multiple clients, client groups, or all clients, and Financial Cents creates a separate proposal for each one. That’s useful for annual engagement letters or a price change across your client base.

Can I track the status of my proposals?

Yes. You can see which proposals are signed, pending, or unopened, so you know exactly which clients to follow up with, and send reminders to several sent proposals at once.

Can I reuse proposals as templates?

Yes. You can save any proposal as a template and reuse its structure for future clients, so you can send a fully customized proposal in minutes.

Can I see how many proposals clients accept?

Yes. The Revenue Insights report shows accepted proposals month by month alongside your firm’s revenue, so you can see how your new business is trending.
