About Financial Cents
At Financial Cents, we’re building the next iconic software company by reimagining how accounting firms run their business. In just five short years, we’ve become the most loved brand in our space, trusted by over 10,000 accountants who rely on us every day to get work done.
Our mission is ambitious yet simple: To be the best platform for accounting firms and the best place for people to work. Recognized as one of Inc.’s Best Workplaces and ranked #375 on the Inc. 5000 list of America’s Fastest-Growing Companies, we’re proud of how far we’ve come — and we’re just getting started.
We’re looking for a Product Manager to own a product domain end to end: discovery, PRDs, delivery alongside a dedicated engineering team, launch, and then respond to user feedback.
This role reports directly to our Group Product Manager and works closely with Design, QA, and Engineering.
One thing that matters a lot to us: when a user says “I want this feature,” the right response isn’t to write the ticket, it’s to ask why. We build for a specific, domain-rich user (accountants and bookkeepers), and the best solutions come from understanding the underlying problem, not just the stated request. If you naturally dig for the “why,” you’ll thrive here!
How We Work
We use Claude heavily in our PM workflow. We’ve built a library of custom Claude skills that handle the mechanical parts of the job: generating PRDs from raw inputs, drafting story tickets, publishing weekly release notes, running rapid-fire feedback sessions, and more.
As a result, you won’t be writing from scratch most of the time. Claude does the first draft, and then you’ll quality-check the output, catch what the AI gets wrong, and rewrite the parts that need human judgment.
The upside is speed: you’ll ship more, and at a higher altitude, than in a traditional PM role. The tradeoff is that an AI draft that’s well structured but substantively wrong is more dangerous than a blank page, and catching that is on you.
What You’ll Do
- Own a specific projects end to end. Some examples of features that you could own are: Month End Close, Google Drive Two-Way Sync, and our AI features.
- Drive delivery with a dedicated engineering team. Sequence the work, keep the team unblocked, run Three Amigos sessions to hash out the MVP with the team, and make the day-to-day scope calls so engineering never sits waiting on a decision.
- Run discovery and shape the roadmap. Run user interviews, synthesize findings, and bring evidence-backed recommendations to roadmap meetings.
- Write PRDs and story tickets that give engineering what they need to build confidently, using our Claude skills as a starting point and your judgment as the final filter.
- Scope features incrementally. Take something large and ambiguous, define an MVP that’s genuinely shippable, and map the iterations that follow without losing the thread. Own launch communications: weekly internal release notes, public Canny changelog posts, and internal tutorials or training for new features.
- Help us continue to polish the product by creating tickets that resolve small, well-defined, user-identified pain points (some examples include Control whether clients can create new chat topics, Tree View for Client Files, and Auto-populate billing addresses on invoices)
What You Bring
- 2-4 years of product management or product owner experience at a SaaS company
- Exceptional written communication. You write clear but concise tickets, PRDs, and product updates. You can recognize when an AI-generated draft is technically structured but substantively weak and rewrite it accordingly.
- Strong discovery instinct. You ask “why” before “what,” and can ask questions to a user to understand what the underlying pain point is.
- Fluency using AI to improve your workflow. You’ve built tools and/or skills using AI in order to enhance your own work and improve communication across the team.
- A sharp eye for usability. You flag when something is unnecessarily complex and push for solutions that are simple and immediately understandable to end users.
- Self-directed. You can look at a list of “to do’s”, figure out what needs attention, and move without being asked.
- Genuine curiosity about the users you build for. In our case, bookkeepers and accountants running their own firms.
- (Nice to have) Experience in accounting, tax, or fintech SaaS
- (Nice to have) Familiarity with Linear, Canny, or similar tools for issue tracking and feedback tracking
- (Nice to have) Hands-on experience with Claude specifically (prompting, skills, context management)
